the Independence of the United States the one hundred and

        To all to whom these presents shall come greeting

Home Stead certificate No 4245}

                                                Whereas there has been deposited

in the General Land office of the United States a Certificate

of the Register of the Land office at Springfield Missouri

whereby it appears that pursuant to the Act of Congress approved

20th of May 1862. To Secure Homesteads to actual settlers on the

Public Domain and the acts Supplemental thereto the claim

of Polly Sims has been established and duly consumated

in conformity to Law for the West half of the South East

Quarter of the South East quarter of Section eight in

Township twenty Seven North of Range Twelve west of the

fifth Principal Meridian in Missouri containing

One Hundred and Twenty acres according to the official

of the survey of the said Land returned to the General Land

office by the Surveyor General.

Now Know ye that there is therefore granted by the United

States unto the said Polly Sims the Tract of Land above described

To Have and To Hold the said tract of Land with the appurtences

there of unto the said Polly Sims and to her heirs and assigns

forever

                                        In Testimony Whereof I Chester A Arthur

President of the United States of America have caused these

letters to be made Pattent and the Seal of the General Land

office to be hereunto affixed.

the Twentyth day of December in the year of our Lord one

Know all men by these presents that I Polly Sims of the county of Douglas

In the State of Missouri have this day for In consideration of the Sum

of fifty Dollars to the Said Polly Sims In hand paid by

George W Swift of the County of Douglas In the State of Missouri

granted bargained and Sold and by these Presents do Grant bargain

Sell unto the Said George W Swift the following described

tract or parcel of land Situate In the county of Douglas In

the State of Missouri that Is to Say the North west ¼ of the

South East ¼ of Section Eight (8) In township (27) of

Range No. 12 Containing (40) acres more or less

To have and to hold the premises hereby conveyed with all

the rights privileges and appertenance thereto belonging

or In anywise appertaining unto the Said George W Swift

his heirs and assigns forever I the Said Polly Sims hereby

covenanting to and with the Said George W Swift his heirs

to Warrant and Defend the title to the premises hereby

conveyed against the claim of very person

whatsoever claiming by through or under him

In Witness Whereof I have hereunto Subscribed my name and affixed

my seal this January 21st 1883

Polly Sims who are personally known to the undersigned (a) justice of

the Peace of the County of Douglas In the State of Missouri to be the person

whose name are Subscribed to the foregoing deed as a party thereto this

day appeared before me and acknowledged that She executed and Delivered

the Same as her voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes therein

contained and the Said Polly Sims being by me made acquainted

with the contents of Said deed acknowledged that She executed the Same

freely and without any compulsion or undue Influence on the part of any

person Whatever

                                Given under my hand this 8 day of May 1883
