The State of Texas } Know all men by these
County of Shelby } presents That we E. J. Bittick
and Isabella Bittick of the County of Shelby and
State of Texas in consideration of the sum of
One hundred and thirty five Dollars chash (sic) [cash] in
hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknow-
ledged unto G. M. Smith of Shelbyville Shelby County
and State of Texas have granted sold and conveyed
and by these presents do grant sell and convey unto the
said G M Smith of the county of Shelby and state of Texas
all that certain tract or parcel of land lying and being
situated in Shelby County Texas a part of the preemption
survey of E Hughes, and particularly described as follows
Beginning at the S. E cor of a subdivision made
for George C Hiarn a stake in the road leading from
Center to San Augustine Thence S 61o E 128 vs [varas, see below] to a stake
on the E B line of James Graham now owned by Joab
Samford. Thence N 20o W 85 vs stake two pines marked X
Thence N 61o E 140 vs stake on road Hickory marked X Thence
South with said road to the beginning Containing two
Acres of land = To have and to hold the above descr
=ibed premises together with all and singular the rights
and appurturance (sic) thereto in anywise belonging
unto the said G. M. Smith his heirs and assigns for
ever. And we do hereby bind ourselves heirs executors
and administrators to warrant and forever defend all
and singular the said premises unto the said G. M. Smith
his heirs and assigns against every person whomsoever
lawfully claiming or to claim the same as any part thereof
Witness our hand this 20th day of April A D 1886

The State of Texas } Known to me to be the persons
County of Shelby } whose names are subscribed as grantors
to the foregoing deed, and stated that they had executed
the same for the purposes and consideration there in expressed
and the said Isabelle Bittick having been examined by me
privily (sic) and apart from her husband and having the same
fully explained to her she the said Isabell Bittick acknowledged
the same to be her act and deed and declared that she had
willingly signed the same for the purposes and consideration
therein expressed and that she did not wish to retract it
