Lew is said to have married the 2nd son of the second wife of Joseph B.L. Bittick. That would make her surname McKinney. [Benjamin Winson McKinney is the second living son of William McKinney and Susan Smith Turpin. The second son, William A. McKinney, died before 1880. mbg]
In a letter from Fay Atchley, 21 August 2004 to Dorothy L. Miller: "Grandpa Bittick's first wife, Lou, had a brother who was an outlaw. While grandpa was on the range just after they married a fellow came and staked his horse and had supper with grandpa and put his bedroll out and got into it. Grandpa & him both had their hand on their gun all along. The next morning as he was leaving he told grandpa, "Ask Lou who I am." [courtesy of Dorothy L. Miller]
