"Mrs. Stanfield dies. Funeral services Sunday at 3. Mrs. E. A. (Myrtle) Stanfield, 79. of 115 Parker Road, died late Friday night at Memorial Hospital after a week's illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Cason, Monk Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J.I. Cartlidge of Marshall, a Baptist minister, officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. A native of Crowley, La., Mrs. Stanfield was the former Myrtle Bittick. Her father was William Henry Conway Bittick, a Confederate war veteran. Her mother was Arnette Belle Burleson. Mrs. Stanfield grew up in the Short community near Center in Shelby county. She was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University and taught in the public schools for 41 years. She and her husband who was also a teacher, retired a few years ago and moved back to Nacogdoches. Mrs. Stanfield was a member of First Baptist Church and Mrs. Dorsey's Sunday School Class; the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Eastern Star. Surviving are her husband, E.A. Stanfield of Nacogdoches; one son, Efton A. Stanfield of Kansas City (sic); three granddaughters and four great grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Victor B. Fain, Marshall Matteson, M.C. Roebuck, Jr.; Robert W. Mruphey, Tom W. Reavley Fr., M.M. Stripling, John Lightfoot, L.D. Pate, L.S. Hurst, Gordon Shanklin, and Frank B. Brunt. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the East Texas Peace Officers Association, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Nacogdoches chapter, the Dorsey Sunday School Class and the Eastern Star. Funeral arrangements will be under the direction of Cason, Monk and Company Funeral home." (Picture)
