Notes for Albert 'AC' Crittenden Bittick

Albert and Lew Mosley were divorced in 1900 according to a family story written by Albert C. Bittick, Jr.

In a letter from Ruby Bittick Smith, 28 January 1982 to Dorothy L. Miller: "I can remember Papa saying that his step Bro. married his ex-wife, Lue, mother of his 5 children, Debbie, Eddie, Maudie, Clyde and Jess Bittick. Papa rode away horseback with a pack mule headed for Arizona. Looking back after down the road short way, he saw Maudie sitting on front door step waving goodbye. Papa often cried over his children and never talked to us of his troubles. Never saw again Maudie, Deb nor Jess. Clyde came over to live with his father 1909 to 1911. I can remember him teasing me and pulling my pigtails, pull off my hair ribbons & stick them in his pocket. To tie on his horse, he'd say."

ArizonaGravestone.org has this to say about the Dudleyville Cemetery:
Dudleyville Cemetery, Pinal County, Arizona
Dudleyville Cemetery is private family cemetery located in Dudleyville, Pinal County, Arizona, about two miles south of Winkelman, Gila County, Arizona. The cemetery was founded about 1887 and still in use today. The cemetery was started by the Harrington Family of Dudleyville. The village of Dudleyville was named for Dudley Harrington. At present there are 110 marked graves and many more unmarked due to age and grass fires years back. To get to the cemetery from Winkelman, start at the junction of State Highway 177 and 77, go South 1 mile on State Highway 77 and turn right onto Piper Springs Road and go .7 miles and turn left at the junction onto Camino Rio Road and go .4 miles and the Cemetery will be next to the road on your right. 1931 Written by A.C. Bittick
The history of the Bittick family as handed down from my father, Joseph Butler Langley Bittick.
There were two boys of the Bittick family came here on the Mayflower from Wales. One married and riazed [sic] a family, the other one died an old bachelor. Years after, my grandfather married in Shelby County, Texas a Miss Butler & raized [sic] a family there in Shelby County. The oldest was Crit, next was Joe, next Mary, Jonathan, Nute, Henry, Jancy & Richard the youngest. Joe Bittick (my father) came to the gold rushy in (to Calif) in 1849. In 1846 married Eliza Summers. Joe was born in Montgomery Co, Mo. in 1838. My father never did go back his old home state. He died here in Ariz. at the age of 77 years. My mother also died in Ariz. at the age of 86 yrs. I still live here & enjoying good health at the age of 72 years. My birthday the 17th of March born 1859. Married twice first wife Lou Mosley of Texas & present wife Jennie Sellick of Arizona. Have five children by each marriage. Albert Crittenton Bittick [records of Lola King - mbg, 14 Apr 2005]

Al and Jennie worked together, living in mountain cow camps and on farms along the San Pedro River. When Al became too old for the hard ranch work, they moved closer to Dudleyville where the children could attend school. [Ruby Bittick Smith to Dorothy L. Miller]
