From the Toe River Valley Heritage, Vol. 2, page 182, No. 228 - John and Hannah (Blunt) Bittick/Biddix: 5. Merrit F. (b. 1848 on Grassy Creek), married Elmira Willis in Mitchell Co. on October 14, 1866. He is said to have died ca. 1889 of typhoid fever. Elmira lived until 1929 and is remembered as a good midwife by some older people of Mitchell Co.
