Notes for Dicie Susannah Allison
Decie Allison, 20 white, of Gaston County and J.P.M. Raffield, 21 white, of McDowell County, were married on 18 May 1889 in McDowell Co, North Carolina by J.C. Allison, MG. Witnesses: Mrs. S.A. Allison and J.C. Allison. Indexed Register of Marriages - McDowell Co, NC p3.

John P. M. Raffield & Dicey Allison married on May 18, 1889 by J. C. Allison, M.G. at the home of J. H. Allison. Parents of the groom: Frank & Sallie Raffield. Parents of the bride: Benj. & Rebecca Allison.
Dicie and her brother, John Henry, were very close. He was seriously ill and she had walked to his house to check on him. She apparently had a stroke and died that evening. Her brother died the next morning and a joint funeral service was held at Piney Grove Church, and were both buried in the church cemetery.
