Mills was of "Bum Character" and was thrown out of the state of North Carolina. Mills got into some trouble with a married woman and that is why he had to leave North Carolina. (Kelt Smith)

Mills moved to Roan Mountain, Tennessee and married Lillie Birchfield. He is buried in the Birchfield Cemetery in Roan Mountain, Tenn. (Ed Biddix)

Mills died of Lead Poisoning - Bad Liquor.
