Luther and his wife, Sallie (Biddix), lived in McDowell County, North Carolina before moving their family to Canon City, Colorado in 1898.
Funeral notice: Died at Canon City, Colorado, (Four Mile) Thursday Afternoon, June 23, 1904. Mrs. Sallie S. Poteet, Aged 31 years, 2 months, 22 days. Funeral services will be held from the Methodist Episcopal Church, Saturday afternoon, June the 25th, 1904, at 3 o'clock. Friends of the family invited.
