Mrs. Minnie BITTICK, wife of Jas. T. BITTICK, died March 30th, 1893, at 4 o'clock, after a severe and extremely painful illness of about twenty days.
Minnie JOHNSON was born near New Harmony, Pike County, Mo., Oct. 22, 1867, hence was 25 years, 5 months and 8 days old when summoned by the Death Angel. A little over three and a quarter years ago she was united in marriage to Jas. T. BITTICK, in Vandalia, where they were living at that time. Soon after marriage they located in Perry; and during this time Mrs. BITTICK has grown in the esteem of all who knew her. She was a faithful devoted wife, a modest woman of domestic tastes and quiet demeanor, apparently caring little for society, yet hospitable and friendly. Those who knew her best were impressed by her faithful devotion to her husband and her kindness to all about her.
Only a few weeks ago she was taken to their own neat and cozy little home, which her husband's industry had provided.
On Monday, March 13th, their child was born--the little one that was expected to brighten their home and cheer the lonely hours of the mother. But, sad fate! The child was born but to be buried. This severe blow added to the intense physical suffering of the young mother seemed enough to crush her spirit, but it is said by those who attended her that she bore all with remarkable submission and patience. When questioned in regard to meeting death, she said she had no fears and expressed a willingness to go, if God so willed.
This double affliction crowding so close upon the young husband is indeed most sad and touches the hearts of all his many friends. Never have we seen manifest a deeper sympathy of an entire community. But human sympathy cannot remove or relieve a sorrow like this. May our afflicted and heartbroken friend obtain comfort and strength through faith in God's promises.-- Perry Enterprise
The young husband, who is thus so sadly bereaved, is a cousin of Frank, Thos., Charley, Miss Hannah BITTICK and Mrs. Elmer F. BROWN, and has the sympathy of all in his deep affliction.

Note regarding clippings from the "Neva Murphy Hubbard Collection" [http://www.rootsweb.com/~molincol/clipneva/ndxn-neva.htm]: Neva Murphy Hubbard (1886-1971) lived all of her life in Lincoln County, MO. She collected a large file of clippings of Lincoln County residents. The majority of the clippings were without citation. Beth Rengers Talken, beneficiary of the collection, has transcribed them for inclusion in Lincoln County Heritage Records.
