"June 4, 1896--PERRY CONVICTED!--The Jury Brings in a Verdict of Murder in the First Degree--Out Only Twenty Minutes!--Sentence to be Hanged Friday July 31, 1896.
The special term of the circuit court of Douglas County, for the trial of Perry and Yost for the murder of the Sawyer family, convened last Thursday morning, with Judge W. N. Evans on the bench. A special grand jury consisting of the following gentlemen were impanelled: W. J. Fulton, John Robertson, D. B. Adams, M. J. Bradley, H. B. Day, J. N. Clinkingbeard, C. W. Snow, J. S. CRAIN, Thos. Palmer, Hiram Huff, J. W. Carson and G. W. D. Pettet."
