She is the Penelope mentioned in the 1858 letter from Henry W. Bittick to his brother John R. Bittick. Drucilla Bittick Hawkins was the sister-in-law of Penelope & Samuel Houston Hawkins. [see Heirlooms-1858 Henry W. Bittick Letter, page 3]
Samuel Houston Hawkins was a big financial help to Penelopy and her family after Arch died in 1878 of typhoid fever.
