This is the Samuel Hockens referred to in the 1858 letter from Henry W. & Susan Jane Bittick to John R. & Cyntha Bittick. Penelope is his sister. [see Heirlooms-1858 Henry W. Bittick Letter]

"tell samuel hockens thit penelope and her husband live here in about a quarter of mile of us and they are all well"

Samuel Hawkins 2nd wife, Hannah, died about 1869. His 3rd wife was an Eliza Ann Wallace. in 1860, Samuel living very close to Susannah Wallace Rogers & Cyntha Wallace Bittick, both daughters of Francis C. Wallace whose youngest daughter was Eliza Ann Wallace born September 27, 1833.
