There is some confusion regarding Mary; her maiden name may have been either Hildebrand or Stafford.

There is an obituary [see below] for James H. Hawkins' wife [James H. was Joseph's brother] and in it Mary A. Hawkins of Stanberry is mentioned as a sister to Eliza Ann Stafford Hawkins.

Joseph Hawkins and Mary H. Hildebrand married December 08, 1872 Ozark Co, Missouri, according to Marriage Index, Missouri CD #234; FHL film # 092957.
