The fourth and most recently discovered veteran was John F. Ramsdale 1812-1887), a brother of the one first discovered [George L. Ramsdale]. John Ramsdale was a native of England, like his brother, and had probably the most colorful term of service in the Texas army of the four. Ramsdale helped to recapture a Texas naval vessel which had fallen into the hands of the Mexicians. He remained in Houston County, Texas until the mid-1870s when he moved to Aurora. He died there, and his wife survived in Wise County until 1896. Researchers have not yet discovered the names of any of John F. Ramsdale's children. He and his wife are likely buried in unmarked graves in Aurora Cemetery.
