Courtesy of Maxine Williams Carter:
History of Jefferson Co, MO and Festus and Crystal City, MO, by Howard C. Litton, pub May 1987, p135, Number 26 (Gladys Lee Castleberry West Side Stories pub 1976):
My father [Charles O. Lee] left this brief account of the entry into Jefferson County of the Graham:
"Early in the 19th century William and Margaret (Carroll) Graham come from Tennessee and settled on Big River near Frumett on what is now (1938) known as the Prim Graham farm. They were of Scotch-irish descent. They were industrious and prosperous. To this couple eleven children were born: Madison, Jeff, Theodore, Susan, Adaline, Arah, Margaret Julia, Polly, Lucinda, Thompson and William."

Same book, p17, Big River Township:
In the year 1804, Jesse Benton located on Big River on the claim that bears his name. Elijah Benton settled on the claim farther up the river. He was succeeded by a man named Thompson, he by a man named Clinton, and he by William Graham.;
