Francis B. Lasater is listed in 'The Heroes of San Jacinto' by Sam Houston Dixon and Louis Wiltz Kemp. Francis enlisted on March 1, 1836 in Gonzales, TX with the Second Regiment, Texas Volunteers, Sixth Company Infantry. He was a Private and served until May 30, 1836. Francis B. Lasater apparently did not apply for his Headright Land* [see below]. He was issued Bounty Certificate #9397 for 320 acres of land on June 11, 1840 for having served in the Army from March 1 to May 30, 1836. The land was surveyed in the Red River Land District in what was\is Bowie County in 1840. He was a member of Capt James Gillaspie's Company at San Jacinto and on Sept 24, 1849 he received Donation Certificate #171 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle. He was living in Leon County on October 30, 1849 when he sold the Certificate. Where was he in 1840 - AR or TX? Could this Francis B. Lasater be the same Francis B. Lasster listed in the Bittick Bible record? The record is in poor condition and his date of birth appears to be 7 May 18 . It is quite possible this is the same date of birth. If this is correct, then his mother must have been a Bittick. Or grandmother?

[Names of interest - ELLIS name married into William Smith line, son of George & Mary Fulkerson Smith. FERRELL - married into Graves family whose mother was Mary 'Polly' Smith Graves, dau of George & Mary Smith. Mary 'Polly' Graves, dau of John C. & Mary Smith Graves, married Francis B. LASITER. VOTAW - family married into Smith line in St Louis\Jeff Co, MO. I can't identify Elijah, but possibly his son, Franklin b. ca 1843 TX, is living with Francis B. Lasiter and Mary Graves Lasiter in 1850 Lavaca Co, TX census. Who was the wife of
Elijah Votaw? Must be a relationship somewhere.] According to one source, William Earl Wilson in 1986, the 'B' was for Belton. I wonder? No info on proof of name given by Mr. Wilson. He is the husband of Glen Rose Lucus who descends from Francis B. Lasiter. LKA in 1986: 309 Ocean Dr, Gun Barrell, TX. Also, a W.F. Curry wrote an article which was published in the 'True West' Magazine, Mar\Apr 1967 issue. He states the middle name as Belton, this could be the source for Mr. Wilson's data.
