JOHN BALL, born 19 Oct 1779, in VA, was a son of JAMES BALL, who tradition says was born in Dublin, Ireland; served in the American Revolution; married MARGARET BRAY. He lived in Owen, Nelson and Fayette Cos, KY before he removed to St Louis Co,MO in 1798 and married MARY EOFF, born about 1789 South Carolina. He died 31 Aug 1859 in Ballwin, MO, the town he founded. The children of JOHN and MARY EOFF BALL were:

2. Susannah married first FREDERICK CANIK who died; second marriage to ??? HERZIG
3. Catherine 1817, married JOHN JOHNSON [Mar 10 1842 St Louis]

Information from Mrs. Nellie C. Hiday and Louis E. Pondrom:
WILLIAM BALL, born about 1720, Loudoun Co, VA; served in Revolutionary War. His son, JAMES BALL, born about 1744, Loudoun or Fairfax Co,VA left a Will in Fauquier Co, VA 1794. Married ANNA CLOE SMITH. Their son, TALIAFERRO BALL, born 1782, died about 1846 married MILDRED FOLEY; removed to St Louis, MO in 1836; returned to VA in 1839. Another son of JAMES and ANNA CHLOE SMITH BALL, JAMES born 1878, died 1852; removed to KY in 1820, married MARGARET SMITH. A son, Capt JOHN EDMUND BALL, born 1829 Henry Co,VA, died 1912 Montgomery Co, MO. NANCY, daughter of JAMES and ANNA CHLOE SMITH BALL, married WILLIAM ELLIS; removed to St Charles Co,MO about 1834-35.
